In this qualitative research, Cerimagic aims at determining whether a patient’s culture, language, and race affect the quality of the patient-doctor relationship and communication. The researcher used a secondary analysis methodology in order to conduct a systematic review of existing literature and past research findings. Thease recent and past researches produced the complications that resulted from cultural differences and its effects on health care provider-patient communication and relationships. The qualifications for sampling frame included studies in English language and those†¦show more content†¦My interviewee also told me, â€Å"I am thankful for being a patient since God gives rewards to people with diseases.† Since we were both Muslims, my interviewee knew I would understand her statement because in Islam, it is believed that rewards are a recompense for their sufferings. This was a sign of interactional identities which, according to Tracy (2002) , refer to â€Å"specific roles that people take on in a communicative context with regard to specific other people† (p.198). This explains that if I were not a Muslim, my interviewee could not probably make this statement. Kleinman, Eisenberg and Good (2006) found that cross-cultural issues affect the health seeking patterns of patients. They note, â€Å"accounts of healing beliefs and practices in other cultures will alert health professionals to patient and family views of clinical reality and encourage understanding of those views† (p. 143). This explains why my interviewee preferred healthcare providers from her cultural background, and why she was able to trust me because we are both Muslims.
